Kandy is a city in central Sri Lanka which considered as the cultural capital of the country. Before the country went under British colonies the Sinhalese Kingdom was established in Kandy till 1815. We still can see some of the historical sites around.
It is advisable to have an early start of the day as there are many exciting list of sites to cover during the day. Here are some of the exciting sites that you can cover during the tour.
Elephant Orphanage & related activities.
On the way to Kandy we are passing the town Pinnawala which is known for Sri Lanka’s larges elephant orphanage which gives home for around 90 elephants. You could whiteness the baby elephants are fed milk & they having a river bath. (Entry tickets included in the package).
In addition to the orphanage visit, there are many other activities such as elephant feeding, washing & rides by yourselves at additional cost at your choice.
We are celebrating 150 years on tea exports. The “Ceylon Tea” still earns the highest demand in the world market. Will visit a tea plantation & a short visit to a tea factory situated closer to Kandy.
Spice & Herbal Garden
Sri Lanka is also popular since ancient times for a wide range of spices, herbs & related herbal treatments. The quality of the Sri Lankan spices including Cinnamon are unmatched with any other origin in the world. On your travel across the country you can drop in at an herbal garden & spend some time at a herbal garden.
Temple of Tooth
The sacred tooth relic of load Buddha is secured at the main temple in Kandy, The temple is made in the 16th century with artistic craftsmanship. The site is mostly crowded with locals & Buddhist from all-over the world. Please ensure to have a suitable dress code for the temple visit.
Gems & Wooden arts with Kandyan craftsmanship
Sri Lanka soil is very much rich with wide range of gems. In a small island we get many varieties of gems & stones that can never be seen in any other location in the world. The Blue sapphires found in the island is unique.
Royal Botanical Garden
This is one of the other exiting site during the excursion. The Garden is set to established by the Sinhalese kings in 14th century & spread over 47 acres with wide range of beautiful plants & flowers. This is the home for many rare plants.
